Bangladesh has made a significant addition to their T20I squad for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe in May, recalling fast bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin. Saifuddin, with 34 T20Is under his belt for Bangladesh, makes a return after a lengthy injury hiatus, showcasing his form in the recent Bangladesh Premier League where he played a crucial role in Fortune Barishal’s title-winning campaign.

Joining Saifuddin in the squad is ODI opener Tanzid Hasan, who is yet to make his T20 international debut. Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the squad also includes seasoned players like Litton Kumer Das, Mahmud Ullah, and Taskin Ahmed. However, a notable absence from the lineup is Shakib Al Hasan, who is expected to join the team later in the series after recovering from an eye condition and finger injury that saw him take a break following the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The series against Zimbabwe will kick off with three T20Is in Chattogram on May 3, 5, and 7, followed by the final two matches in Dhaka on May 10 and 12. The inclusion of Saifuddin adds depth and experience to the squad as Bangladesh gears up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Bangladesh Squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Litton Kumer Das(wk), Tawhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mahmud Ullah, Jaker Ali Anik, Afif Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanvir Islam, Saifuddin.
