Ahead of their crucial clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 17, Chopra urged the DC management to give opportunities to Prithvi Shaw, who has not featured in a single match this season.
He highlighted the heavy reliance on KL Rahul, noting the massive gap between him and the rest of the batting unit, while criticizing the lack of chances given to Shaw, even as an Impact Player option.
Chopra also raised concerns over DC’s bowling department, despite the presence of experienced overseas bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi, pointing out that no bowler in the squad has been able to consistently pick up wickets this season.
He suggested that even though Delhi are still mathematically alive in the playoff race, they should focus on playing for pride and finish strongly, as reaching 14 points could still keep them in contention.
Meanwhile, Chopra also offered tactical advice for Rajasthan Royals ahead of the same fixture, suggesting that they avoid playing Dasun Shanaka.
He recommended that RR instead include a specialist overseas pacer such as Nandre Burger, Adam Milne, or Kwena Maphaka to strengthen their bowling attack, emphasizing the need for a proper wicket-taking option in the lineup.
