The West Indies have officially announced their 15-man squads set to clash with Australia in a thrilling series of three ODIs and three T20Is scheduled from February 2 to February 13.

In the ODI lineup, attention is drawn to the inclusion of two potential debutants, Teddy Bishop and wicketkeeper-batter Tevin Imlach, both emerging talents from the 2022 U19 World Cup. Bishop’s selection is a result of his outstanding performance in the West Indies 50-over competition, while Imlach, who impressed during the Test series, retains his spot. The squad also marks the return of Justin Greaves after recovering from an injury, accompanied by the comeback of Hayden Walsh Jr and Kavem Hodge. Unfortunately, Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford were unavailable, while Shimron Hetmyer and Yannic Carriah were omitted.

Following their recent triumph against England in both T20Is and ODIs at home in December, West Indies is on an upward trajectory. Lead selector and former international Desmond Haynes expresses confidence in the team’s competitiveness in Australia, urging them to capitalize on their momentum as they gear up for the T20 World Cup in June.

Haynes stated, “On the back of a series win against England, we are expecting our ODI team to be very competitive in Australia.” The team’s composition includes new talents and returning players, aiming to make a significant impact. The T20I series is pivotal in their preparations for the T20 World Cup, which they will host. Haynes emphasizes the team’s commitment to building on strong performances against India and England, continuously improving as they approach the major tournament.

Before the white-ball series kicks off, the teams are set to engage in two Test matches as part of the World Test Championship, starting on January 17.
