West Indies team punished with match loss against India


Not only the loss against India, but also the financial loss to the West Indies team. Women’s team cricketers were deducted 40 per cent of the match fee for the slow over rate.

West Indies could not finish the over in time. Stephanie Taylor bowled two overs after the end of time. Match referee Shandre Fritz announced the punishment against the West Indies. The ICC said, “Under Section 2.22 of the ICC, if a cricketer is involved in the loss of overs, 20 per cent of the match fee per over will be deducted. โ€™

The South African captain has pleaded guilty. That’s why there was no hearing. The umpires on the field complained against the West Indies.

India scored 317 against West Indies on Saturday. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur scored centuries. West Indies were bowled out for 162.
