Tomorrow’s PSL double-header in Rawalpindi may face rain issues. Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators matches are scheduled at Pindi Cricket Stadium on March 2. The Weather Channel predicts a 100% chance of rain during the day and 70% at night, with the possibility of heavy downpour.
Meanwhile, one of the Met Office officials when approached said: “Chances of rain with thunderstorms are likely for Saturday. In fact, rain is expected to start on Friday evening with Saturday being the most affected day of the upcoming rainy spell.”
Rain could pour in at any time during the next two days. Saturday could be the worst hit day,” the official added.
Pindi Stadium consistently draws a full crowd for international matches and PSL events, creating a festive atmosphere. To accommodate the upcoming nine matches over the next ten days, around ten thousand temporary chairs have been set up.
Notably, Pindi Stadium witnessed two of the highest PSL scores: Multan Sultans’ 262 against Quetta Gladiators and Quetta’s 253 against Multan.
This year, the PCB aims to change the perception of “flat pitches” at the stadium. Curators have been instructed to prepare pitches that support both bowlers and batters.
