During a recent appearance on a local TV show, renowned cricketer Wasim Akram shared insights into his strategy for bowling against Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi star batsman Babar Azam.
When asked by a fan about his approach to bowling against Babar, Akram didn’t delve into specifics but hinted at initiating with aggressive lines, drawing a comparison to his tactics against cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.
Akram acknowledged Babar’s exceptional skills and highlighted the challenge posed by technically sound batsmen like him. He emphasized that unlike pinch hitters, who might offer more opportunities for dismissal, players like Babar, Lara, and Tendulkar excel in playing proper cricketing shots, making them formidable opponents.
Akram suggested adopting an attacking strategy in the initial overs to assess Babar’s comfort on a particular pitch.
Babar Azam, leading Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 9, has displayed remarkable form, amassing 330 runs in five matches, including a stellar unbeaten 111 against Islamabad United.
