Wasim Akram Jabs Pakistan After T20 World Cup Exit, Praises USA’s Success

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram commended the United States of America (USA) for their remarkable performance in the T20 World Cup, where the debutants advanced to the Super 8 stage. The USA secured their spot after a rain-affected draw against Ireland and impressive victories over Canada and former champions Pakistan. Despite a tough loss to India, they showcased their potential by putting up a strong fight against Rohit Sharma’s team.

In a video shared by the ICC, Akram expressed his admiration for Team USA’s achievements, emphasizing their contribution to the globalization of cricket.

Congratulations to Team USA. They’ve done amazingly well, and their qualification for the Super Eights is a testament to the global growth of the game,

Akram stated.

However, Akram also took a playful jab at the Pakistan team, highlighting their early exit from the tournament.

While USA advances, Pakistan will be boarding a flight to Dubai, and then heading back home. They had their chance but couldn’t capitalize,

he remarked.

The USA’s advancement to the Super Eights was confirmed on Friday when their match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain. Despite the ground staff’s efforts to dry the outfield at Lauderhill, a sudden downpour rendered the field unplayable, securing the USA’s spot and eliminating Pakistan from the tournament.

This milestone not only propels the USA into the Super Eights but also guarantees their automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
