The 28-year-old spinner will spend most of the English summer based in Birmingham, representing the Bears in the T20 Blast before joining Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred 2026. He was signed by the Edgbaston-based franchise for £140,000 at the player auction earlier this year.

Expressing his excitement, Tariq said he is eager to bring energy and enjoyment to the team and is looking forward to playing in front of the Edgbaston crowd during the summer.

Since making his international debut in November 2025, Tariq has quickly built a reputation as a highly effective T20 bowler. The right-arm spinner has claimed 18 wickets in nine T20 Internationals at an impressive economy rate of 6.66. Across 60 T20 matches in his career, he has taken 89 wickets, maintaining an economy of 6.95 and a strike rate of 15.30.

Tariq also brings extensive franchise experience, having featured in leagues around the world. He has represented Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, Desert Vipers in the ILT20, and Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.

Warwickshire have a strong history of recruiting Pakistani players as overseas signings, with names like Hasan Ali, Aamer Jamal, and Mir Hamza having represented the club in recent seasons.
