As the anticipation builds for the second Test between India and England in Vizag, uncertainty looms over Virat Kohli’s availability from the third Test onward due to a reported ‘personal issue.’ The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has cautioned against engaging in conspiracy theories and rumors.
Amidst speculation circulating on social media suggesting Virat’s absence is linked to his mother’s health, his brother Vikas took to social media to address and dismiss these unfounded rumors.
In a statement on Instagram, Vikas Kohli asserted, “Hello everyone. I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom’s health circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also, I would request everyone and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information.
In a recent release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated, “Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming Test series against England, citing personal reasons.”
The release went on to mention, “Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors, emphasizing that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.
The BCCI respects his decision, and the Board and team management have extended their support to the star batter. They express confidence in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series.
Following the withdrawals of Kohli and KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan have been included as batting replacements in the Indian team. While Rahul might make a return for the third Test, there is currently no update on Virat Kohli’s availability.
