The incident occurred on the final ball of the 13th over when a delivery from Yash Raj Punja was called wide by the umpire. According to Pathan, replays clearly showed the ball was not wide, but neither Jurel nor Jaiswal discussed the possibility of taking a review.
“From the commentators’ perspective, it looked like it was not a wide. Dhruv Jurel was in the best position to judge it, but there was no communication with the captain at all,” Pathan said on his YouTube channel.
He added that the lack of coordination cost RR dearly as Shubman Gill smashed the next ball for a boundary. Pathan stressed that better communication and decision-making are crucial, especially in pressure situations.
The former cricketer also expressed disappointment with Rajasthan’s overall performance and questioned the team’s powerplay strategy. He criticised Jofra Archer, who leaked 46 runs in just three overs, including 17 runs in his opening over.
“I have never felt this disappointed watching a Rajasthan Royals match. Archer has been outstanding this season, but I could not understand the strategy at all in the powerplay,” Pathan said.
In the one-sided contest, Gujarat Titans posted a massive 229/4 riding on half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. In reply, Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 152, with Rashid Khan starring with a four-wicket haul.
