The NCL T20 trophy has been officially unveiled!

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially unveiled the trophy for the inaugural NCL T20 tournament on Sunday.

The eight-team competition is set to kick off on December 11, with all matches scheduled to take place in Sylhet. The winners will take home a prize of Tk 20 lakh. The tournament aims to provide local players with valuable T20 experience and help the BCB scout talent for the country’s premier T20 league, the BPL.

During the unveiling ceremony at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the captains of the participating teams praised the initiative. They highlighted the importance of a domestic T20 tournament alongside the BPL to meet the growing demand for opportunities among local players.

Yasir Ali Chowdhury, captain of Chattogram Division, expressed his excitement: “Thanks to the BCB for organizing this tournament. We’ve played in the BPL for years but only had one domestic T20 competition in the DPL before. This is a great platform to prepare ahead of the BPL.”

Khulna’s stand-in captain, Ziaur Rahman, echoed Yasir’s sentiments:
“This was long overdue. I hope the tournament goes well and achieves its purpose.”

The 32-match tournament, featuring national team skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, will conclude later this month, marking an exciting milestone for Bangladesh’s domestic cricket scene.
