Taskin Ahmed made history in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with an extraordinary performance that has secured his place in the tournament’s record books.

The Rajshahi pacer delivered a remarkable spell of 4-0-19-7 against Dhaka Capitals. While Dhaka posted a challenging total of over 170 runs, it was Taskin who stole the show. His seven-wicket haul, for just 19 runs, set a new record for the best bowling performance in BPL history, surpassing Mohammad Amir’s previous record of 6 wickets for 17 runs.

This achievement has also placed Taskin among the elite in the world of T20 bowling, as his performance now ranks as the third-best in T20 history. Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus holds the top spot with a 4-0-8-7 spell against China in July 2023, followed by CN Ackermann of Leicestershire, who took 7 wickets for 18 runs in a 2019 match against Birmingham Bears.

This was Taskin’s second-ever five-wicket haul in T20s, making it a day to remember for both the pacer and Rajshahi fans.

The spell started with Litton Das, who was dismissed for a duck after facing just five balls, caught off Yasir Ali Rabi. Taskin then removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim, further weakening Dhaka’s batting lineup. Shahadat Hossain Dipu managed a gritty 50 from 40 balls, but Taskin sent him packing, keeping Dhaka under pressure.

Taskin’s devastating spell didn’t stop there. He quickly dismissed Chaturanga de Silva, Alauddin Babu, and Mukidul Islam, ensuring no batsman could stand firm.
