Taskin heads to England for ankle specialist consultation

Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed flew to England yesterday to consult an ankle specialist about the Achilles injury that forced him out of the ongoing Test series against Zimbabwe.

Taskin is set to meet Dr. James Calder, a leading specialist in Achilles Tendinopathy, on April 29. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury will join him in England ahead of the consultation.

“Right now, we are consulting someone very high-profile. Many English Premier League footballers and athletes from other sports have seen him. The BCB has arranged everything,” Taskin added.

Before departing, Taskin bowled a short session off a reduced run-up at the Academy Ground in Mirpur and reported feeling positive, suggesting surgery might not be needed, though a final decision will come after his consultation.
