Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal has been left out of the BCB’s central contract list for 2024, raising doubts about his international future. Tamim briefly retired last year but changed his mind after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested him to continue playing.Tamim’s strained relationship with BCB president Nazmul Hassan, who questioned his professionalism, led to the exclusion. The BCB’s move suggests Tamim is not part of their plans for 2024. The central contracts were awarded to 21 players, including all-format deals for Shoriful Islam and new captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Taskin Ahmed lost the Test contract but retained ODIs and T20Is. Ebadot Hossain, Afif Hossain, and Mosaddek Hossain were also excluded, while Towhid Hridoy, Tanzim Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Naeem Hasan, and Nurul Hasan joined the central contract. Additionally, 85 first-class cricketers received approved salary contracts during the meeting.
