Rashid Latif Under Cybercrime Probe After Criticizing PCB

Rashid Latif Under Cybercrime Probe After Criticizing PCB

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) confirmed that Latif appeared on Wednesday, November 19, to record his statement in two separate inquiries in Islamabad and Lahore. The probe was initiated after Syed Ali Naqvi, the PCB’s senior legal manager, filed a formal complaint.

“Former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has recorded his statement in two inquiries against him in Islamabad and Lahore,” NCCIA spokesperson Najeebullah Hasan said, as quoted by India Today.

Latif, in his social media post on X, criticized the board, writing: “Shaheen Shah Afridi named ODI captain. Divide and rule policy is a political strategy to gain and maintain power by creating and exploiting divisions within a population, such as religious, ethnic, cricket teams or class differences.” He also suggested that Pakistan remained the only major cricketing nation struggling to produce a consistent captain.

In recent months, Latif has been vocal on cricketing matters. During the Asia Cup 2025, he highlighted tensions between India and Pakistan on the field, stating that off-field developments contributed to uncertainty and a widening cricketing gap. He attributed India’s dominance to its robust domestic structure and the scale of the IPL, contrasting it with Pakistan’s PSL.

Separately, another complaint has been lodged against former captain Wasim Akram for allegedly promoting a betting app, though the NCCIA has not yet issued him a notice.ir teams’ strategies, with Smith’s dominance in the Ashes and Root’s consistency in WTC forming a fascinating statistical contrast ahead of the five-match series.
