Rahane will join the commentary panel for Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV, with coverage of the two-Test series beginning on August 15, 2026. The assignment comes after a distinguished first-class career spanning nearly 18 years.
The former India captain played 85 Tests for the country, scoring 5,077 runs, including 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries. Having experienced the demands of Test cricket as a player and captain, Rahane will now provide his insights from the commentary box.
Speaking about the new role, Rahane said he was excited to view Test cricket from a different perspective and share his experiences and understanding of the game’s tactics, strategies and key moments with fans.
Sony Sports Network also welcomed Rahane to its commentary team, highlighting his composure, resilience and deep understanding of the game. The broadcaster will air the India-Sri Lanka Test series on Sony Sports Network and stream it on Sony LIV from August 15.
