In a significant boost for Bangladesh cricket, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed its participation in an upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Set to begin on October 21, the announcement comes amidst recent political instability in Bangladesh, raising concerns over player safety and security.
CSA’s confirmation followed a thorough security review, conducted by an inspection team comprising the operations manager, team security manager, a safety and security consultant, and a representative from the South African Cricketers’ Association. The team conducted an on-site visit to assess the security situation in light of the political unrest that has gripped the country.
The series marks the first international cricket tour to Bangladesh since political protests led to the ousting of the Sheikh Hasina government, underscoring the importance of the tour for Bangladesh cricket’s stability and global relations.
