The incident reportedly occurred as Raza was walking off the field while representing his club.
Local media reports suggest that Rainbow Cricket Club’s head coach, Blessing Mafuwa, directed the alleged racist remarks toward the 39-year-old all-rounder. Eyewitnesses at the venue have reportedly backed Raza’s account of the incident.
In his complaint, Raza called for strong disciplinary action against Mafuwa, emphasizing that there is no place for racism in Zimbabwean cricket.
Zimbabwean journalist Adam Theo highlighted the issue on social media, writing: “As per local reports this morning, Zimbabwe T20I captain Sikandar Raza has lodged a formal complaint with the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association alleging racist abuse during a recent Vigne Cup match.”
“It is understood that Rainbow Cricket Club Head Coach Blessing Mafuwa hurled racist comments at Raza while he left the field. He has demanded a severe punishment. Investigations are underway. There is no room for racism in Zimbabwe Cricket,” he added.
