As the Indian cricket team gears up to face England in the fourth Test of the five-match series in Ranchi, all eyes are on the Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium, where local hero MS Dhoni’s presence always adds a special aura. Ahead of the match, young batsman Shubman Gill shared his sentiments about Dhoni, affectionately known as ‘Mahi bhai’ among his teammates.
The entire nation misses Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), whether we play in Ranchi or anywhere else in the world,” Gill expressed during the pre-match press conference in Ranchi.
Despite pitches not entirely favoring their style, India’s fast bowlers have made a significant impact in the Test series against England, according to Gill. While spinners have dominated the wickets tally, with R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel contributing substantially, Gill emphasized the crucial role of the pacers in maintaining India’s advantage.
In India, pitches tend to favor spinners. Ash bhai and Jaddu bhai will always take wickets, but the exceptional performance of our fast bowlers has been pivotal in this series,” Gill remarked in a media interaction ahead of the fourth Test.
However, India will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah in the Ranchi Test due to workload management, despite his stellar performance in the series, leading the wickets tally for India with 17 dismissals from three Tests.
