The Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of the 2012 and 2014 Indian Premier League tournaments, will begin their training for IPL 2024 on March 15th, 2024.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has just unveiled the schedule for the first 21 matches of IPL 2024. In this initial lineup, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to compete against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Delhi Capitals (DC) in their first three matches.

Shreyas Iyer and his team are scheduled to play their opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23, 2024. Following that, the Kolkata-based franchise will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 29, followed by a match against Delhi Capitals on April 3, 2024.

With the absence of key star players, KKR had a disappointing performance last year. Nevertheless, they are eager to bounce back strongly in the upcoming season.

Gautam Gambhir, the most successful captain in the tournament’s history, has joined the franchise as their mentor. Shreyas Iyer will resume his role as captain.

Recently, Shreyas Iyer has been making headlines for the wrong reasons. He is eager to demonstrate his skills and quieten his critics. All players and other team members will commence preparations on March 15, 2024, at Eden Gardens. However, some may join later due to national commitments.

Mitchell Starc Set to Join Squad on March 17, 2024

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is slated to join the KKR camp on March 17, 2024, following the conclusion of the Test series against New Zealand on March 12. His arrival at Eden Gardens promises to make a significant impact.

Kolkata Knight Riders made headlines at the IPL 2024 auction by securing the services of the Australian pacer for a record-breaking amount of INR 24.75 crore, establishing him as the most expensive player in the history of the lucrative tournament.

The franchise acquired Starc’s services back in 2018, but he missed the season due to a stress fracture in his right leg. Consequently, the left-arm pacer has been absent from the Indian Premier League since then, making his highly anticipated return this season.
