Shoriful, Leading Wicket-Taker in BPL, Aims for Future IPL Contract

Despite Shoriful’s success, his team Duronto Dhaka had a tough time in the BPL. After an initial win, they lost 11 matches in a row and ended up at the bottom of the points table among seven teams. Shoriful regrets not being able to get big victories for Dhaka and is upset with the team’s subpar performance. Feeling the weight of the group’s failure on his mind, he highlights the importance of team success over individual accomplishments.

Shoriful expressed his mixed feelings about his personal performance and the team’s overall outcome in the BPL. He admitted that the team’s inability to advance to the playoffs was upsetting, even while his personal accomplishment of collecting 22 wickets was satisfying. He underlined that group success was more important than individual achievement.

Despite his success, Shoriful faced a setback in his hopes of joining the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he didn’t receive approval from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). This setback was shared with two other Bangladeshi pacers, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, who were initially enrolled for the IPL auction. The BCB later withdrew Taskin and Shoriful due to concerns about managing their workload ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

While Mustafizur secured a spot with the Chennai Super Kings, Taskin and Shoriful missed out on the IPL opportunity. Taskin had expressed disappointment, eager to showcase his skills on the prestigious platform. Nonetheless, Shoriful remained calm, acknowledging the circumstances and holding out hope for better days ahead.

See, everything is ultimately in the hands of Almighty Allah. If it’s written in my destiny to play in the IPL, I will play; if not, then I won’t. So, I’m not worrying about that right now.โ€ Shoriful said.

Shoriful, the fast bowler, has recently joined the list of players contracted for all three formats, along with Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, and the new captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Every pacer and cricketer dreams of being under central contract in all three formats, leading the country. In this instance, I consider myself to be really fortunate and confident in myself. I can give good things in all three formats In Sha Allah.
