Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has reportedly applied for the vacant head coach position with Kerala’s cricket team.
According to a report from Onmanorama, Tait is among ten candidates vying for the head coach role at Kerala Cricket Association (KCA). The KCA is on the hunt for a new coach ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season, following the resignation of their previous coach, M Venkataramana, who stepped down for personal reasons.
Tait had also thrown his hat in the ring for the head coach position with Punjab but was edged out by former India opener Wasim Jaffer.
We received over 45 applications for the Punjab senior team head coach position, including prominent names like Wasim Jaffer and Shaun Tait. The selection process is ongoing, and we plan to announce the chosen candidate by next week,
a Punjab Cricket Association official had told The Indian Express last month.
In Kerala, the team is still in search of their first Ranji Trophy title. With the Indian domestic season fast approaching—starting with the Duleep Trophy in early September and the Ranji Trophy kicking off on October 11—they need to finalize their head coach soon to prepare for the upcoming challenges.
