Shakib has been dealing with an eye issue since the ODI World Cup. He traveled to London and later Singapore for specialized treatment during the BPL. Despite speculations that he might skip BPL due to his eye problem, Shakib played two more matches for Rangpur Riders. However, he batted lower against Khulna and struggled to focus on the ball.
In the match against Durdanto Dhaka, Shakib didn’t bat even when Rangpur lost eight wickets, but they still secured a commanding 52-run win against Comilla. Babar is optimistic about Shakib’s return, hoping he’ll be fully prepared and deliver a strong performance in the upcoming matches.
I don’t think we are facing extra pressure without Shakib’s batting. He is fit and he had a practice session before the match because he could not take adequate preparation before the tournament. He came early and had a good batting session. Today he did not get the opportunity to bat but we are looking forward to the next matches and seeing Shakib play good innings,” said Babar.
