Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi stated he never thinks about captaincy and always fights for his country.
Recently, Shaheen was in the news due to an altercation with Mohammad Yousuf during Pakistan’s tour of England before the T20 World Cup 2024. Reports from Lahore suggested that coaches and management had complained to the PCB chairman about Shaheen’s attitude during the tour. It was revealed that Shaheen had a heated exchange with Yousuf but later apologized.
“All team members are my friends. I was raised well and I always fight for my country,” Shaheen said. “I never think about captaincy. My focus is to represent my country and keep the team positive,” he added.
Following these reports, there were speculations that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) might take disciplinary action against Shaheen, possibly excluding him from the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh.
When asked about these rumors, Shaheen said he was unaware of them. “I don’t know if I’m being dropped from the Test series against Bangladesh. My role is to play cricket with dignity,” he added.
