Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan met with the teams of Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) before the opening match of Women’s Premier League (WPL) season two on Friday. The ‘King of Bollywood’ is scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony alongside other Bollywood stars like Shahid Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, and Tiger Shroff.
In a video shared by WPL’s official Twitter account, Shah Rukh interacted with players from MI and DC, including MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, DC vice-captain Jemimah Rodrigues, and DC skipper Meg Lanning. A highlight was Shahrukh sharing a moment and striking his signature pose with the ‘Queen of Cricket’ Meg Lanning. The Australian captain expressed delight at meeting the global film icon.
The second season of WPL kicks off on Friday with defending champions Mumbai Indians facing last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The opening match is crucial for Delhi, aiming to move past last year’s finals loss and secure the championship. Meg Lanning, leading Delhi Capitals, aims for gold and hopes to add the latest women’s franchise cricket title to her international cricket achievements.
The tournament, taking place in Bengaluru and Delhi, will run until March 17. The summit clash is scheduled for March 17 in New Delhi, while the eliminator will be played on March 15. Both cities, Delhi and Bengaluru, will host the matches throughout the tournament.
