Parag had been dealing with a recurring shoulder issue since his international debut in 2024, often continuing to play despite pain and discomfort. The injury eventually sidelined him from national duties, forcing him to undergo corrective surgery.
Taking to social media, Parag reflected on the physical and mental challenges of the past two years while confirming that the procedure was completed successfully.
“The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge,” Parag wrote.
He further added in an emotional post on Instagram that the surgery marked a turning point in his journey.
“Well, the shoulder finally won. For everyone who’s been asking, the surgery is done and went well,” he said. “Now comes a different challenge—recovery, rehab and patience. I’ll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side.”
Parag, who was appointed Rajasthan Royals captain ahead of IPL 2026, enjoyed a strong season as leader, guiding the team to the playoffs in his debut campaign as skipper. Rajasthan Royals eventually finished third after a narrow defeat to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
The Assam cricketer had also been named in the India A squad and was set to serve as vice-captain for the Sri Lanka tour, but was ruled out due to his shoulder issue. He was replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has since impressed with consistent performances.
Following surgery, Parag will now begin his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he will be assessed before returning to competitive cricket. Fans and selectors alike will be closely monitoring his recovery timeline and eventual comeback.
