Sarfaraz Khan’s Father Expresses Gratitude to BCCI and Fans After Son’s Test Call-Up

In a notable turn of events, Sarfaraz Khan has earned a well-deserved spot in India’s squad for the upcoming second Test match against England, commencing on February 2. This decision comes on the heels of injuries sidelining Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul. Sarfaraz’s exceptional performance in domestic cricket, coupled with his impressive outings for India ‘A,’ contributed to this selection.

Naushad Khan, Sarfaraz’s father, took to social media to convey his emotions and extend gratitude to various entities. In a video message, he expressed his thanks, saying, “You all know that Sarfaraz got his maiden Test call-up today. I want to thank everyone, especially the Mumbai Cricket Association where he grew up. Also, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where he gained experience, BCCI, and the selectors for trusting in him, and all his fans who prayed for him and supported him.

“We all have high hopes that he performs well for the country and contributes to the team’s victory,” he remarked.

In a tense turn of events, Rohit Sharma’s India faced a heart-wrenching defeat by 28 runs in the first Test in Hyderabad on Sunday, despite holding the upper hand for the majority of the opening three days.

The upcoming second Test of the five-match series between India and England is scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam starting Friday.

India’s squad has seen additions with the inclusion of Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Providing insight into the changes, the BCCI stated, “Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day Four of the first Test in Hyderabad, while Rahul complained of a right quadriceps pain.” The BCCI assured that its medical team is actively “monitoring the progress of the duo.
