Salahuddin, who will begin his role with the national team during their upcoming West Indies tour in November, previously served as Bangladesh’s assistant and fielding coach from 2006 to 2010.
“The main reason for my involvement is that I’ve often heard the board say, ‘they will give local coaches a platform,’” Salahuddin said in a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) video posted on Friday.
For Salahuddin, this role is not just about coaching but about building confidence within Bangladesh’s coaching staff and proving that local coaches can succeed at the highest level.
“If I can show them the way, even for a short time, that local coaches can perform well at this level, it will strengthen the board’s trust in future coaches and the public’s faith in them,” said the former Singapore coach, who has had success in domestic leagues like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.

“It will also boost the coaches’ confidence, showing that we can perform on the international stage. It’s a big responsibility for me to lead the way for our coaches, and I accept this challenge,” he added.
