Rajshahi’s all-rounder Ryan Burl delivered an outstanding performance to lead his team to a 28-run victory over the Khulna Tigers, handing them their first defeat of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20. The match took place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Burl’s match-winning efforts included an explosive 48* off 29 balls, guiding Rajshahi to a total of 178/5 in their 20 overs. He then followed up with a stellar bowling performance, claiming 2 wickets for just 13 runs, as Khulna were all out for 150 in 19.3 overs.
This victory marked Rajshahi’s second win in five matches, while Khulna suffered their first defeat in three games.
Rajshahi’s Solid Start and Recovery
After being asked to bat first, Rajshahi got off to a solid start with Mohammad Haris (27) and Jishan Alam (23) putting on a 44-run opening partnership. However, Khulna’s spinners brought them back into the game by taking four quick wickets, reducing Rajshahi to 67/4 in the 10th over.
Yasir Al (41 off 25 balls) and Burl then steadied the innings, sharing an excellent 88-run partnership for the fifth wicket, which lifted Rajshahi past the 150-run mark. Akbar Ali’s quickfire 21* off 9 balls further boosted their total to 178.

Chasing 179, Khulna’s chase got off to a rocky start with early wickets falling. William Bosisto (6) and Mehedi (1) were dismissed early, leaving Khulna at 7/2. Mohammad Naim (24 off 28 balls) and Afif Hossain (33 off 30 balls) got starts but struggled to accelerate, allowing Rajshahi’s bowlers to maintain pressure.
Sohaz Gazi (2/27) removed both key batters, while pacer Taskin Ahmed took 2 wickets, bringing his tally to 14 in the tournament. Khulna were eventually bowled out for 150, falling short with three balls to spare.
