Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, applauded Rohit Sharma’s straightforward decision-making during a thrilling third T20I against Afghanistan. Dravid commended both Rohit Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi for their roles in securing India’s victory, particularly in the gripping second super over.

The high-stakes match unfolded as Afghanistan mounted a formidable challenge, chasing down a target of 213 and leading the contest into a super over. In the post-match press conference, Dravid emphasized Rohit Sharma’s simplicity in decision-making, stating,

No gimmicks, no strategy, just a simple decision in the end. I think Rohit went with his gut and chose Bishnoi, believing that the spinner had the potential to take crucial wickets.

When the first super over failed to yield a result, Rohit Sharma entrusted the ball to Bishnoi, who efficiently dismissed both batters in just three balls, securing India’s 11-run total.

Dravid praised Rohit’s strategic call, saying:

It was a great call from the skipper because he could have gone for two sixes. But I thought Bishnoi was brilliant. He bowled two superb balls, maintaining the right length. Rohit’s decision to go for wickets, adopting a more positive and aggressive approach, was a commendable deviation from the safer option that people might have expected.

While Bishnoi and Rohit earned accolades, the consistent performance of Shivam Dube earned him the Player of the Series title. Dube showcased his skills by scoring 124 runs and taking 2 wickets in three outings.

Expressing satisfaction with Dube’s performance, Dravid expressed optimism about the left-handed batter’s potential in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

I’m really happy to see the way he’s performed in the series. He has showcased his skills, and he will have the opportunity to display them in the IPL. Really pleased for him; he demonstrated excellent ability against spin in the middle overs and bowled some good spells,

Dravid remarked.
