Reports: Over 100 Pakistani Policemen Dismissed for Refusing Champions Trophy Duty

A report from the Press Trust of India, quoting a senior police official, reveals that more than 100 officers from Pakistan’s Punjab Police have been dismissed for refusing to carry out their security duties during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The officers affected were from various branches of the police force. The official stated that over 100 police personnel had been removed after being repeatedly absent from duty, with some outright refusing to perform their assigned tasks during the tournament.

These duties included providing security for teams traveling between Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore and their designated hotels. However, many officers either skipped their shifts or refused to take responsibility.

Punjab’s Inspector General of Police, Usman Anwar, has taken strong action, ordering disciplinary measures against the officers involved. “There is no tolerance for negligence when it comes to the security of international events,” he emphasized.

While the official reason for the officers’ refusal to work has not been confirmed, local media reports suggest they may have been overwhelmed by the long hours.
