The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the successful renovation of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium ahead of the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The upgraded venue will be officially inaugurated on February 8 in a grand ceremony before hosting a tri-series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa from February 9.

The revamped stadium now boasts enhanced LED floodlights, large digital scoreboards, and newly imported seating across all enclosures. The inauguration event, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will feature a spectacular light show, fireworks, and performances by renowned artists such as Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig.

The extensive renovations were completed in just 117 days, ensuring the venue meets international standards. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the efforts of all involved, stating, “This transformation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone who contributed. Our venues are now on par with global standards, offering the best experience for players and fans alike.”

With concerns over Pakistan’s readiness to host the Champions Trophy, the PCB confirmed that all venues, including Karachi’s National Stadium and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, will be handed over to the ICC on February 12. The board credited Mohsin Naqvi’s leadership for ensuring the timely completion of renovations, including upgraded hospitality boxes and improved facilities for both players and spectators.

The Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19, marking a significant moment for Pakistan as it prepares to host its first ICC event in nearly three decades.
