Ahead of the must-win encounter, Delhi’s bowling coach Munaf Patel made it clear that the team can no longer afford complacency, stressing that the “relax mode” is over as they push for a playoff spot.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Munaf said the Capitals are now focused on building momentum and must win consistently to stay in contention. He emphasized the importance of moving on from past results and maintaining a winning mindset going forward.
Delhi have struggled at home this season, managing just one win so far. However, Munaf expressed confidence in the team’s spin attack, especially with conditions expected to favor slower bowlers. He backed the experienced duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav to make a significant impact in the upcoming matches.
Munaf also highlighted the role of the coaching staff in guiding players but stressed that execution ultimately lies with the individuals on the field. He noted that confidence is closely tied to winning and cannot be built through defeats.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have also had their challenges this season, particularly away from home, where they have lost three of their four matches. Both teams are currently locked on eight points from nine games, sitting sixth and seventh on the table respectively — making this clash even more significant in the race for the playoffs.
