Speaking after IPL 2026 action in Guwahati, Bhuvneshwar said the teenager showed exceptional composure despite his age and deserved full credit for his performances.
“The way he is hitting shots. He is not slogging; he is hitting proper shots. For a 15-year-old, he is too mature. So yes, I think we should give him credit for the way he is batting,” the experienced pacer said in the post-match press conference.
Sooryavanshi, who is currently leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026 with 200 runs, produced a stunning knock of 78 runs against RCB in their recent clash, further underlining his rapid rise in the tournament.
Bhuvneshwar also admitted that although RCB had planned for the young batter, they failed to execute their plans on the field, adding that such performances are part of the unpredictability of T20 cricket.
“Even if a 15-year-old can bat like this, it’s part of the game,” he said, noting that dropped chances and missed execution cost the team.
Sooryavanshi will next be in action for Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 13, as he looks to extend his lead in the Orange Cap race.
