Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja shared a significant injury update on social media ahead of the team selection for the remaining three Test matches against England. He had a hamstring injury during the first Test, causing him to miss the second match, which India won in Visakhapatnam. Since the series is at 1-1, Jadeja coming back from his injury would greatly help India.

In another development, Jasprit Bumrah became the first Indian pacer to top the ICC Test rankings after an excellent performance against England in Visakhapatnam.Taking nine wickets in a single match helped him become the top-ranked player, overtaking Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bishan Singh Bedi are the other Indians who have previously held the top spot.

Bumrah, named Player of the Match for his role in India’s 106-run victory, ended Ashwin’s 11-month reign. Ashwin, with 499 Test wickets, now ranks third. Bumrah has 881 rating points, with Ashwin (904) and Jadeja (899) being the only Indian bowlers with more rating points. Ashwin and Jadeja shared the top ranking in March 2017.

In the batting rankings, Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up 37 places to 29th after a double-century, and Shubman Gill climbed 14 places to a career-best 38th following his century in the second innings.
