Rangpur Riders have named a 13-member squad for the upcoming Global Super League, consisting of nine Bangladeshi players and four overseas players. Ashraful, acknowledging the challenge of competing in a global tournament, highlighted the opportunity for local players to gain international exposure.
“It will be tough, but this is a great chance for our players. Global T20 events attract global attention, and our players rarely get this kind of exposure. If we perform well as a team and individually, we can reach the final. Our goal is to make it there first, and everyone dreams of winning,” Ashraful said.
Nurul Hasan Sohan will captain the team, which includes key players like Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, and Saif Hasan. The squad also features Rishad Hossain, Afif Hossain, Arafat Sunny, and Kamrul Islam Rabbi.
The four overseas players are Matthew Ford from the Caribbean, England’s Wayne Madsen, pacer Jack Chappell, and USA’s Harmeet Singh.
Ashraful expressed excitement about the squad, saying, “Rangpur is a top team in the BPL, and it feels great to be part of it. We’ll have three more days of training, followed by a practice match, and then head to the West Indies for more preparation. It’s an exciting environment.”
