Rahul Dravid’s younger son Anvay named in India U19 Challenger Trophy squad ahead of World Cup

The Under-19 One-Day Challenger Trophy is set to begin in Hyderabad on November 5, and among the squads is Anvay Dravid, the younger son of cricket legend Rahul Dravid.

A promising wicketkeeper-batter, Anvay has earned a spot in the India C squad following an impressive performance for Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

Following in the footsteps of his father and elder brother
Anvay captained Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring 220 runs, and now the Challenger Trophy offers him a platform to make a case for next year’s U19 World Cup. Historically, the U19 Challenger Series has been a key pathway for players aspiring to represent India at the U19 World Cup, gathering top junior talent from across the country.

Anvay’s elder brother, Samit Dravid, was also selected for the 2024 U19 Challenger Trophy but missed out due to injury. The selection of both sons signals the gradual rise of the Dravid family in Indian cricket, with bigger milestones likely in the future.

The tournament will feature four teams and includes notable U19 talents such as Vihaan Malhotra, Abhigyan Kundu, and Harvansh Singh. However, selectors have opted not to pick stars like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, who are currently performing well in senior-level cricket.
