Quetta Gladiators’ captain, Rilee Rossouw, praised Saud Shakeel for his crucial contribution in the team’s victory against Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9. In the match on Sunday, Jason Roy and Shakeel dominated Zalmi’s bowlers, forming a powerful 157-run opening partnership. Shakeel, who scored a remarkable 74 off 47 balls, including ten boundaries and four sixes, played a significant role in the win before departing.

Saud played like he has been playing for years in the PSL and he did so well today. The fearless cricket and the shots that he played, it was outstanding to see. Especially, if we can have that with Jason Roy who is naturally aggressive. They both played phenomenally well today and credit has to go to them because they gave us a platform so that we can carry on and score the runs,” Rossouw said after the match.

The South African also shared about leading a team for the first time in his career.

Coming out on top in my first match as captain is going to give me and the team a lot of confidence. It was job well done all-around,” he said.

Quetta Gladiators kicked off PSL 9 with a victory, defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs in a high-scoring match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Despite Babar Azam’s leadership, Zalmi couldn’t chase the 207-run target, as Quetta’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance in the crucial final overs.
