Quetta Gladiators secured a 16-run victory against Peshawar Zalmi in the second match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9. Despite Peshawar Zalmi setting a target of 207 runs, Quetta Gladiators could only manage to score 190 runs for six wickets. Babar Azam’s 68 runs couldn’t steer the team to victory due to continuous wicket falls.
Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel played crucial roles for Quetta Gladiators, scoring 75 runs off 48 and 74 runs off 47, respectively. Peshawar Zalmi had set a strong total of 206 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Salman Irshad taking three wickets for 38 runs.
The match took place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, part of the 34-match tournament featuring six teams in Pakistan Super League 9. In the earlier match, Islamabad United defeated defending champions Lahore Qalandars, chasing down a target of 196 runs set by Lahore Qalandars, with Captain Shadab Khan leading the way with an unbeaten 74 runs off 41 balls.
The PSL 9 inaugural ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium featured performances by artists such as Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, along with a spectacular fireworks display and laser show. The tournament will conclude with the final match on March 18th in Karachi.
