Former Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Quetta Gladiators have named their long-time captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, as the team director for the 2025 season. Sarfaraz, who has led the franchise since its inception in 2016 and guided them to the PSL title in 2019, was released last year.
The wicketkeeper-batter also went unsold in the PSL 10 auction, and while he hasn’t officially announced his retirement, his new role strongly suggests that he won’t be returning to the field as a player.
Quetta Gladiators owner Omar Nadeem expressed confidence in Sarfaraz’s leadership off the field:
“Today, I would like to announce Sarfaraz as the Team Director of Quetta Gladiators. He led QG really well as a captain, and I am hopeful he will do the same as Director. The combination of Moin Khan as Head Coach and Sarfaraz as Team Director will do wonders for us.”
