Early Promise and International Debut
While he showed promise, Shinwari struggled to make a lasting impact in Tests and T20Is.
ODI Success But Inconsistent Performances
The left-arm pacer found relative success in ODIs, claiming 34 wickets in 17 matches. However, his inconsistent form saw him dropped from the Pakistan squad following the 2019 series against Sri Lanka, and he was unable to make a comeback to the national side thereafter.
Domestic and T20 League Career
Shinwari continued to play in domestic cricket and T20 leagues, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Lanka Premier League, until the 2021–22 season. In six PSL seasons, he represented Karachi Kings in four editions, taking 42 wickets in 39 matches. His last first-class game came in 2021, while his final List A appearance was in 2023. He continued playing domestic T20 cricket up until 2025.
Asia Cup and Retirement
Shinwari was part of Pakistan’s 2018 Asia Cup squad, going wicketless against India and Afghanistan but taking three wickets against Hong Kong. Now, at the age of 31, he has decided to retire on the eve of the 2025 Asia Cup, closing the chapter on a career that began with significant promise but ultimately fell short of expectations on the international stage.
