In the 74th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting held on Thursday, a significant proposal was put forward: the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is encouraged to take full control of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium and bring it up to international standards. This move aims to rejuvenate the Faisalabad venue, setting the stage for it to once again host bilateral international cricket series.

Meanwhile, the BoG was updated on the Champions One-Day Cup, which kicked off at Iqbal Stadium on Thursday afternoon with the opening clash between the Markhors and the Panthers. The BoG lauded PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for his efforts in attracting top-tier organizations to partner with the tournament, showcasing the nation’s finest cricketers.

An update on infrastructure projects at various venues was also presented, detailing the progress on design and scope. The BoG members expressed strong support and satisfaction with these projects, emphasizing their critical role in enhancing Pakistan’s cricketing image and profile.

Earlier, Naqvi extended his best wishes to all participants in the Champions Cup. “This tournament is set to bolster domestic cricket and unveil new talent,” he remarked.
