Parthiv Patel, a stalwart of Gujarat’s cricketing legacy in India’s domestic scene, is set to take on a new role with his home IPL franchise, the Gujarat Titans. According to reports from the Times of India (TOI), Patel will join the coaching staff, led by Ashish Nehra, as the team’s batting mentor ahead of IPL 2025. His primary focus will be to guide star players like Shubman Gill and strengthen the Titans’ batting lineup.
Patel steps into the role previously held by Gary Kirsten, who has taken over as the head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team. Meanwhile, Vikram Solanki will continue his duties as the Titans’ Director of Cricket.

Before his anticipated move to the Gujarat Titans, Patel had been working with Mumbai Indians as a talent scout, where he played a significant role in identifying emerging talent from India’s domestic circuit. Patel, who retired from all forms of cricket in December 2020, has since shifted his focus to scouting and commentary, after previously winning IPL titles with Mumbai Indians.
The Gujarat Titans, who made a sensational debut in IPL 2022 under Ashish Nehra’s coaching and Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, clinched the title in their inaugural season and finished as runners-up in the following edition. However, the team experienced a dip in form under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, ending up eighth in the 10-team tournament, with just five wins and seven losses.
