The T20 leg is set to begin on February 20, while the one-day series will run from February 27 to March 9, with all eight matches scheduled at the Stadium Oval in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the tour, the Shaheens will undergo a seven-day training camp in Karachi from February 11 to 17 before departing for the UAE.
Left-handed batter Shamyl Hussain has been appointed captain for both formats, reflecting the selectors’ confidence in his leadership and batting skills. He will lead a batting lineup that includes Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Player of the Tournament Maaz Sadaqat, and fellow left-hander Saad Khan.
The squad also features promising Pakistan U19 batter Sameer Minhas alongside his brother Arafat Minhas, who have both impressed with their performances in the ICC U19 World Cup and ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars. Wicketkeeping duties will be shared by Rohail Nazir and Saad Baig, providing depth and flexibility.
Pakistan’s spin attack will include Arafat Minhas, leg-spinner Saad Masood, and left-arm wrist spinner Sufyan Moqim, while the pace department will feature U19 fast bowler Ali Raza, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Salman, and Shahid Aziz, offering a strong seam-bowling contingent suited to Abu Dhabi conditions.
The Shaheens will be guided off the field by an experienced support staff. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed mentor and team manager, former Test cricketer Ijaz Ahmed Jr will serve as head coach, Mansoor Amjad as fielding coach, and ex-Test pacer Aizaz Cheema will oversee the bowling department.
The series against England Lions is expected to play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s talent development pathway, giving young players the opportunity to test themselves in competitive overseas conditions.
