As Pakistan grapples with a political deadlock following the recent elections, tensions rise between Imran Khan’s PTI and Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League. Despite PTI’s slight lead, the majority remains elusive. Amid this uncertainty, Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir has ignited speculation with a cryptic social media post featuring former captain Imran Khan, capturing the attention of the cricketing fraternity nationwide.
“Who is the batsman looking at? A beautiful picture,” Amir enigmatically shared on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a snapshot of Imran Khan.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken action in response to reported incidents of snatching and damaging of voting materials during the nationwide elections held on February 8, as per Geo News.
After successfully navigating through the complexities of conducting the elections, the ECP is now in the final stages of tallying the votes, with the compilation process continuing for the 48th consecutive hour.
Complaints from various regions of the country prompted the commission to order re-elections at several polling stations, where voting processes were disrupted due to incidents of material theft and damage.
In a recent development, the ECP has scheduled re-polling at multiple stations for February 15, with results to be announced upon completion of the re-polling exercise.
Furthermore, the ECP has mandated re-polling at 25 stations within a specific constituency where voting materials were damaged by terrorist activities on the election day.
Simultaneously, the electoral body has directed the regional election commissioner to furnish a report within three days concerning allegations of vandalism at a polling station in NA-242 Karachi Keamari-I-Sindh.
