PCB Fines Aamer Jamal and Other Cricketers for Code of Conduct Breaches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has penalized several players, including all-rounder Aamer Jamal, for violating the code of conduct. According to Pakistani media reports, Jamal was fined PKR 1.3 million for wearing a cap with a political message during an on-field interview.

During the first Test against England at home in October last year, the 28-year-old sported a cap with “804” written on it. Reports suggest the number was a gesture of solidarity with former Pakistan captain and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently serving a jail sentence. “804” is said to be his prison badge number.

In addition, three more Pakistan cricketers have been fined PKR 500,000 each for disciplinary breaches during the Australia tour in November 2024. Salman Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi reportedly violated curfew by arriving late at the team hotel during their South Africa tour.

Pakistan players have been under fire following their early exit from the 2025 Champions Trophy. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, the team failed to win a single match, suffering heavy defeats against India and New Zealand.

In response to the team’s poor performance, PCB has reportedly cut match fees for players in the National T20 Cup. As per reports, they will now earn PKR 10,000 per match—75% less than in the previous edition.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is currently on tour in New Zealand for eight white-ball matches, including five T20Is and three ODIs. The Agha-led T20I side had a rough start, suffering a crushing nine-wicket defeat in Christchurch. Pakistan was bowled out for 91, with Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson sharing seven wickets. New Zealand chased down the target in just 10.1 overs.
