While SRH’s bowling attack has raised eyebrows, star batter Heinrich Klaasen was quick to point out that the team is still adjusting after missing key pace bowlers Pat Cummins and Brydon Carse due to injuries. Carse is ruled out for the season, while Cummins is working behind the scenes to regain full fitness.
“The rest of the group is super experienced, especially our pace department,” Klaasen said. “Losing Pat Cummins is obviously a big loss, and Brydon Carse getting hit on the hand didn’t help our plans either. But in the two games we lost, the wickets were good — we just didn’t execute with the bat as we wanted.”
Klaasen stressed that the batters have collectively left about 40 runs on the board across the first three games, which has contributed to the team’s struggles.
“I think we have messed up about 40 runs over the last three games, so there is still a lot of work for our batters to do. It is easy to say our bowlers lack experience, but the reality is the batters need to put up totals of 220-plus to give the bowlers a proper chance of defending,” he added.
SRH will look to bounce back against Punjab Kings as they aim to find their rhythm in both batting and bowling for the remainder of IPL 2026.
