Bad weather in Sydney on Monday dashed Victoria’s hopes of a likely Sheffield Shield victory over New South Wales. The home side was eight wickets down when play was suspended, with Scott Boland taking five wickets. Victoria, aiming for a win that would have put them on top of the Shield ladder, left the field at noon, and the game did not resume. New South Wales was 116 for 8, needing 86 more runs to make Victoria bat again. Despite the setback, Victoria’s Will Pucovski shone with a score of 131, his first century in the Shield since November 2020.
