Rinku Singh, one of India’s promising young cricketers, has caught the attention of former batting coach Vikram Rathour, who believes Rinku has the potential to succeed in Test cricket.

Rinku Singh, who made his international debut last year, has been impressive across various formats. He was a reserve player in the T20 World Cup squad and recently excelled in the shortest format during the Zimbabwe tour. Reflecting on his Test cricket prospects, Rathour expressed confidence in Rinku’s abilities.

When I see him bat in the nets, I can’t find any technical reasons why Rinku cannot be a successful Test batter,

Rathour said.

Although he has gained recognition as a formidable finisher in T20 cricket, his first-class record speaks for itself, averaging in the high 50s.

Rathour also highlighted Rinku Singh’s temperament and suitability for the longer format.

He is blessed with a very calm temperament. All these factors indicate that if given an opportunity, he can develop into a Test cricketer,

Rathour added.

Since his debut, Rinku Singh has played 20 T20Is, scoring 416 runs at a strike rate of 176.27, including two fifties. In ODIs, he has appeared in two matches. His first-class cricket record is equally impressive, boasting a strike rate of 71.59 and accumulating 3,173 runs in 69 innings.

Looking ahead, India’s schedule includes a Test match against Bangladesh starting on September 19, following the series against Sri Lanka.
