Maddinson underwent nine weeks of chemotherapy in July and was sidelined from competitive cricket. Speaking about his comeback, he expressed joy at returning to the Thunder after missing the entire last season.
“I’m really happy to be staying with Thunder. There have been a few setbacks lately, but I’ve had amazing support from my friends, family, and the club. Now I’m just keen to lock in, get the season started, and hopefully help the boys go one better than last year,” Maddinson said.
Thunder Management Backs Maddinson to Shine
Sydney Thunder’s general manager, Trent Copeland, welcomed Maddinson back and expressed confidence in his impact both on and off the field.
“We are pleased to have Maddo re-sign with us at Sydney Thunder. I know how eager he was to play in front of the Thunder Nation before his injury, and that eagerness has only grown since then. We’re backing Maddo to make a real impact this season, both at the crease and through his leadership around the team,” Copeland said.
BBL Journey So Far
Maddinson has represented four different teams in the Big Bash League. He started his career with the Sydney Sixers, staying for seven seasons, before moving to the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades for three years each. He now joins the Sydney Thunder, ready to make his mark in BBL 2025-26.
